Replacement of Scaffold Access Platforms
During the onshore build of the West Chirag Production Platform (COP), it was recognised that several areas would need scaffolding in order to gain operational and maintenance access. BP (the operator) decided that wherever possible permanent access platforms should be provided to minimise scaffolding work offshore and provide a safer working environment for their operations and maintenance personnel.
Laser Gulf were contracted to carry out laser surveys of these areas and to provide a detailed design for each of these permanent access platforms using all bolted construction.
Deliverables included
- Project implementation plan.
- Structural calculations for each individual access platform.
- Conceptual 3D design model for review and comment for each individual access platform.
- Fabrication drawings for each individual access platform.
In excess of 20 individual platforms were designed each with their own construction and installation workpack.
